Public Transportation Solutions

We can access the internet on commercial flights, but broadband connection to the internet on trains, subways and buses is not yet possible. There are many daily commuters that would like to read their email or just cruise the web before arriving at the office, but in most cases commuting time is down time. Up until now, creating the proper infrastructure that could provide broadband communications on a fast moving vehicle was a problem. Mobilicom’s MC-1000 mobile wireless mesh network solves that problem.

Mobilicom’s MC-1000 allows broadband access for fast-moving trains, underground subways and city buses. With Mobilicom’s nodes placed on the vehicles themselves and at distanced intervals on the route, internet access as well as real-time video surveillance, security and safety on public transportation is now a possibility.

MOBILE Capabilities
– Mobilicom’s MC-1000 system supports speeds of up to 800Km/H, based on LTE 4G technology and fully configurable Software Defined Radio (SDR) modems. Previous generations of wireless technology would not allow for broadband connectivity on a very high speed vehicle, and the cost of setting up regular infrastructure every hundred meters is not viable. Satellite technology is not a workable solution for broadband connectivity when considering high speed mobility and reasonable OPEX costs. Mobilicom’s MC-1000 system is truly the best available solution for high speed broadband wireless access on a fast moving vehicle.

BROADBAND Capabilities
– The MC-1000 offers up to 40Mbps uplink/downlink broadband quality transmission speed between mobile and fixed units, while regular wireless systems have limited broadband uplink potential. Broadband connectivity is required to provide the following services on public transportation:

Broadband internet service for passengers on public transportation
Live video security and surveillance for public transportation monitoring
Railway safety enhancements such as warning systems and
   hazard detection
Train/bus fleet management

All these services are now possible using the Mobilicom solution.

AD-HOC/MESH Capabilities – The mesh feature of Mobilicom’s MC-1000 will allow for continuous transmission of broadband quality communications at a dramatic level of CAPEX/OPEX savings. The relay and multi-hop facets of mesh technology requires fewer gateways and nodes than alternative wireless technologies, resulting in a much lower implementation cost. This makes Mobilicom’s 4G ad-hoc/mesh system an excellent solution for broadband communications on trains, subways and buses.

The Mobilicom Advantage:
Saving CAPEX/OPEX costs with ad-hoc/mesh relay and providing 4G Broadband connectivity

Providing broadband connectivity on public transportation would change the face of commuting as we know it today and allow for better safety and security along the route. Using ad-hoc/mesh architecture can save money on CAPEX and OPEX over alternative wireless technologies which require additional infrastructure. Millions of productive hours can be reclaimed every day and variety of entertainment services with broadband internet access on public transportation by using Mobilicom’s MC-1000 solution.
